Leukosis

The saltflats of my cheeks
are taut with dessication
and no one knows the
oceans that have evaporated there

briney waters outside of history
unknown to record
and anyone but myself
locked in the memory of minerals and skin

channels and rivulets
scored deep beneath the surface
the hidden wounds
etched inward by my tears
